LeadER Animal Specialty Hospital in South Florida is a group of board-certified specialists that is dedicated to providing exceptional emergency vet care and referral services. We work closely with your primary care veterinarian to establish a diagnosis and formulate the optimal treatment plan for your loved one.
We strongly emphasize the team approach in our practice of emergency vet medicine and surgery. By combining the skills of all our specialists, we can frequently resolve the most difficult medical problem.
Just as important, we also believe that the primary care veterinarian’s participation is critical to the successful diagnosis and treatment of our patients. We are committed to open and full communication with both the client and referring veterinarian throughout the care process. We only see patients by referral from another veterinarian or one of our Leader Animal Specialty Hospital general practitioners.

Surgery
LeadER Animal Specialty Hospital’s surgical service is dedicated to providing your loved one with the best surgical care possible. Our highly trained and comp staff is committed to enhancing the quality of life for our patients and strengthening the human-animal bond by providing excellent surgical care, vigilant anesthetic monitoring, and comprehensive pain prevention and management. Our team specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of surgical diseases in dogs and cats. Our surgeons work closely with the other specialists to ensure efficiency and a case continuity.
Internal Medicine
LeadER’s internal medicine department uses the very latest technology to get a clearer picture and deeper understanding of underlying diseases. For example, ultrasound can help us visualize the liver, gall bladder, spleen, kidney, pancreas, and bladder. Endoscopy is often used to examine and collect specimens from the airways, stomach, small intestine, colon, and nose or to retrieve something your loved one has swallowed. Laparoscopy allows us to biopsy the liver or pancreas on a minimally invasive basis. We offer Dialysis & Plasma exchange. Whatever your loved one needs, you can depend on our veterinary team in South Florida to deliver care with precision, compassion, and professionalism.
Oncology
LeadER’s Oncology service is run by Pet Cancer Group and is led by Dr. J Armando Villamil, a board certified veterinary oncologist with more than ten years of experience in the field and at the forefront of animal cancer therapy. Dr. Villamil has been involved in multiple clinical trials (e.g., Kinavet, Satraplatin, radiopharmaceuticals and Bayer pharmaceuticals) to develop new cancer treatments. He also has an extensive background in veterinary cancer research, having earned a PhD in epidemiology.
