Neurosurgery

Vertebral Fracture Repair

Fractures or luxations of the spinal vertebrae can occur secondary to trauma (automobile accidents, falls, and blunt trauma), bites, and gunshots. Compression and trauma to the spinal cord are often present, and veterinary surgery is required to stabilize the spine as well as decompress the spinal cord.

Spinal Cord Decompression

Intervertebral disk disease is a common spinal cord disease in dogs that can cause pain, inability to feel the back legs, or difficulty walking. Signs of intervertebral disk disease include neck pain, back pain, inability to stand, pelvic limb ataxia (walking wobbly), inability to move their rear legs, or even their inability to feel their back legs. Your loved one’s prognosis depends on the severity of signs and therapy chosen. Surgery often offers the best chances for your loved one’s long-term success.
